The €57m contract, which includes an option for 16 additional LRVs, is Stadler’s first maintenance contract in the light rail segment in Germany.

The 42m-long seven-section 100% low-floor barrier-free vehicles will enter into service on Bavaria’s second-largest light rail network from 2022. The LRVs can accommodate 231 passengers, including 86 seated.

Maintenance will be carried out by Stadtwerke Augsburg’s employees in its own workshops on behalf of Stadler.

The new vehicles will play a major role in the expansion of Line 3 and mark an improvement in passenger comfort.
