The order has doubled GySEV’s fleet of EMUs, with the trains delivered on time. The first three were presented to GySEV at the 12th Trako International Railway Fair, Gdansk, Poland, in September 2017.

The vehicles meet the requirements of the latest TSIs, and are designed to be safer and provide better protection for the driver in the event of a collision, resulting in the trains being an extra 2.8m long.

The 77.1m-long four-car trains offer 208 seats and improved acceleration, which enables the train to reach 120km/h within 39 seconds. While designed with a maximum speed of 160km/h, the EMUs will operate at 120km/h on GySEV’s regional lines.

The EMUs also feature large boarding areas to enable rapid boarding and alighting, and with more than 80% low-floor are accessible by passengers with wheelchairs, bicycles and prams, and are equipped with air-conditioning, CCTV, Wi-Fi, and charging facilities.

The new EMUs can be operated in multiple or with GySEV’s legacy fleet.

The car bodies and the bogies were manufactured in Stadler’s factory in Szolnok, Hungary, while final assembly was undertaken in Siedlce, Poland.
