MÁV-Start signed a framework agreement in April 2017 for 40 Kiss EMUs, including the base order for 11 trains, and has since exercised an option for an additional eight sets, which are due to be delivered in 2021.

In June, MÁV-Start announced it intends to exercise the option for the remaining 21 trains in the framework contract.

The six-car trains are 155.9-long, 2.8m-wide and 4.6m-high, with seating for 600 passengers. The trains will be equipped with four toilets, including one for passengers with reduced mobility, while the multifunctional areas will have space for four wheelchairs as well as 12 bicycles or five pushchairs.

The new trains will be equipped with the Hungarian EVM train protection system and ETCS Level 2, allowing a maximum speed of 160km/h on Hungary’s modernised network.
