The order comprises 10 63.2m-long EMUs and 12 74.4m-long electro-diesel bi-mode trains, with a maximum speed of 160km/h under electric power and 140km/h under diesel propulsion.

The trains feature a modular design, offering the possibility of refitting at a later date for fully electric operation, or the replacement of the diesel engine with a battery power pack.

The trains will be manufactured to operate on 1668mm-gauge tracks - the first time Stadler has manufactured Flirts in this configuration.

The trains will have an aluminium bodyshell, and will be manufactured using 95% recycled material. They will be equipped with designated areas for wheelchairs, pushchairs and bikes, as well as Wi-Fi and digital passenger information systems.

The contract also covers maintenance and training for at least four years.
