The facility will be the first in Turkey to manufacture aluminium carbodies for rolling stock.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Turkey’s deputy minister of industry and technology, Mr Mehmet Fatih Kacir, said the plant will support the government’s goal of boosting domestic production of strategically important and high-value products.

The plant will produce bodyshells for Tüvasaş’ National Train 160km/h inter-city EMU. A prototype train is due to be rolled out later this year and Turkish State Railways (TCDD) has already ordered 20 sets.
