Each six-car Type B train will be formed of four powered vehicles and two trailer cars.

The 36.7km Line 3 will connect Xiamen’s main railway station with the new Xiang‘an International Airport, which is located 25km from the city centre. Construction began on the 26-station line in 2015 and the project includes the excavation of China’s deepest undersea metro tunnel.

Trial passenger operation is expected to begin at the end of next year.

The city’s first metro line opened in December 2017.
