80% of DB Cargo wagons now equipped with “whispering brakes”

DB Cargo says it has now fitted around 80% of its wagons with the composite LL brake blocks, which are replacing cast-iron K blocks.

DB Cargo plans to equip all 63,000 of its wagons with whispering brakes by 2020.

Last year the federal government and DB invested around €100m in noise reduction and mitigation measures as part of the Quiet Track programme.
