The services, which run via the Channel Tunnel High Speed 1 (HS1), carry refrigerated containers of perishable foodstuffs and automotive components. DB Schenker Rail says it has signed a six-month track access agreement with HS1 for the service although both parties intend to continue the service beyond the middle of the year.

DB Schenker Rail UK already operates a twice-weekly service between Barking and Wroclaw, Poland, which also runs via HS1.

DB Schenker previously operated a single-client intermodal train between Spain and Britain for Stobart Rail, which ran four times a week, although this used conventional lines on the British leg of the journey restricting the loading gauge.
