The terminal, which is situated 160km east of Prague is to become the second hub of Metrans intermodal operations, handling trains to and from Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary. Metrans operations are currently centred on its terminal at Prague Uhrinĕves, the largest intermodal facility in the Czech Republic.

Česká Třebova will have capacity to handle around 150 trains per week and up to 4500 TEU can be stored on the site at any given time. The facility has three gantry cranes and six 630m-long sidings, which are electrified to minimise shunting.

The €16.5m terminal has been developed as part of parent company Hamburg Harbours and Logistics' strategy to expand its intermodal operations in central and eastern Europe.

Metrans is the dominant intermodal operator in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The company operates trains independently to various European coastal ports, including Hamburg, Rotterdam, and Koper in Slovenia.
