The modernization of the Pruszcz Gdański – Gdańsk Port Północny line will boost capacity from 30 to 180 trains a day, raising line speeds from 50km/h to 100km/h.

The project includes upgrading of the 12km double-track section, construction of 4 viaducts and 10 bridges as well as track-doubling on the single-track sections of the line .

A new 122m-long 2000-tonne bridge is being built over the Martwa Wisla river (pictured), and the existing bridge will be demolished in June.

Rail links to all four Poland's main maritime ports – Gdansk, Gdynia, Szczecin and Swinoujscie – will be reconstructed by 2020 with the aid of co-financing from the European Union.
