The railways will work in cooperation with Belarus state-owned Belintertrans Transport and BC’s Logistic Centre (BLTC). The agreement was signed by RZD Logistics CEO, Mr Viacheslav Valtenik and Mr Igor Shylov, first deputy head of BC, at the 2018 China International Logistics and Transport Expo in Shenzhen, China.

RZD Logistics and BC will also work together to accelerate delivery of less than container freight in baggage cars on RailJet services between Beijing, Moscow and Minsk with new regular services aiming to complete the journey in eight days. In addition, the two parties will also use the TCU Kolyadichi rail freight terminal in Minsk as a distribution centre for goods from China.

“China is very interested in reducing the time of delivery, including the delivery of e-commerce goods, and the appearance of modern distribution centres at entry points to Europe,” Valentik says. “These centres should be capable of consolidating large volumes of freight and distribute smaller volumes across the territory of Europe.”
