RZD will act as the concessionaire for the project and will build the railway infrastructure at its own expense, which will become the property of the Samara Region. The two parties will cooperate in the design, construction, and operation of the railway, which is considered an important step to diversify the economy of Togliatti, the home of car manufacturer, Lada.
The concession agreement was signed on October 1 by Mr Yuri Bakerin, head of the RZD Investment Department, and Mr Viktor Kudryashov, first vice governor of the Samara region, in the presence of Mr Oleg Belozerov, CEO and chairman of RZD’s board, and Mr Dmitry Azarov, head of the region.
Investment in the project is estimated to be worth Roubles 900m ($US 13.7m).
