The sole bidder to date is CSR Zhuzhou, while the five remaining contenders are a consortium led by Bombardier, Changchun Railway Vehicles (CNR), Hyundai-Rotem, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, and Siemens. It is understood that bidders have requested the extension to allow more time to prepare their bids.

The new heavy metro line, which is currently known as My Rapid Transit, is due to open in 2016 and will run from Sungai Buloh in the northwest, through the city centre to Kajang in the southeast.
