Saudi Arabia seeks private partner for rail operations

SAUDI Arabia’s Public Transport Authority (PTA) has announced that it is seeking to enter into a long-term partnership with leading international railway companies and investors to provide passenger and freight services in the country.

Boosting private participation in Saudi Arabia is a key element of Saudi Vision 2030, and the successful partner will operate the existing and future railway network. The country’s network currently consists of 4000km with 2500km now either under construction or in the planning phase.

Rail has been identified as major area that will drive economic growth in Saudi Arabia as well as position the country as a key logistics hub. Prospective bidders are encouraged to contact the [email protected] for more information.
