The 34m-long 70%-low-floor vehicles will accommodate up to 200 passengers.

Two prototype vehicles will be delivered by the end of 2019 and DVG expects to receive the series LRVs between 2021 and 2023.

The €132m contract includes the provision of spare parts and maintenance services for 24 years, with an option for an eight-year extension.

“Bombardier will provide the know-how for fleet maintenance and the work will be carried out by DVG staff at our depot,” says DVG board member Mr Klaus-Peter Wandelenus. “Bundling the core competencies of DVG and Bombardier will ensure low maintenance costs and the long-term utilisation of the company’s own workshops.”
