Newag, which is offering a 160km/h variant of its Griffin design, achieved a score of 93.46 in the bid assessment, while competitor Pesa came in second with 75.08 points. A third bidder, CRRC, scored 71.4 points.

Deliveries must be completed within 30 months of contract signing and Newag must ensure the fleet maintains quarterly availability figures exceeding 95%.

The manufacturer will be responsible for all level 2, 3 and 4 maintenance on the fleet and will provide the necessary servicing facilities.

The contract includes an option for 10 additional locomotives.
