RegioJet’s passenger rail operations carried a total of 4.5 million passengers, up 18% from the yearly average, with Slovak regional services between Bratislava and Komarno, which operate under on a public service obligation contract with the Bratislava region, carrying 1.67 million passengers.

The increase in passengers results mainly from the newly-introduced Prague - Brno - Břeclav - Vienna/Bratislava open-access services, which were used by around 418,000 passengers.

RegioJet also announced that it will launch a fourth Prague - Brno - Bratislava service starting on September 2. The train departs from Prague at 17.21, arriving at the Slovak capital at 21.12, while the return trip departs from Bratislava at 08.47, arriving in the Czech capital at 12.42.

As the expansion of train services requires more rolling stock, Regiojet will begin operating another two Bombardier Traxx MS2 four-system locomotives, registered in the Czech Republic as class 386. The Traxx locomotives, which RegioJet introduced the first two of in May 2018 to partially replace leased Siemens Vectron class 193 locomotives, are equipped for operation in the Czech Republic, Austria and Slovakia.
