The five-section vehicles were ordered last year for the 18km line from Wenchang Road to Suzhou North station. Construction began in mid-2014 and commercial services are due to start next year. Construction is also underway on a third light rail line and Suzhou is ultimately planning to build a 116km six-line network.
In 2014 CRRC Nanjing Puzhen awarded Škoda Electric a contract to deliver drives and motors for 40 five-car metro trains, which the Chinese company is supplying for Suzhou metro Line 4.
