SLOVAKIA’s national passenger operator ZSSK has awarded a consortium of Škoda Transportation and Slovakian partner ŽOS Trnava a contract worth around €160m to supply 25 RegioPanter regional EMUs for services in the Žilina area.

The order comprises 13 80m-long three-car trains, which will seat 247 passengers, and 12 106m-long four-car sets seating 343 passengers.

Delivery of the 160km/h dual-voltage (3kV dc and 25kV ac) trains is due to be completed within 24 months.

The trains will have an entry floor height of 550mm with interior features including passenger Wi-Fi, LED lighting, a multi-functional area with tip-up seats, and accessible toilets.

Škoda has already supplied 28 RegioPanter EMUs to Czech Railways (CD) and a further nine sets for the Pilsen region will be delivered this year.
