Trenitalia orders more Jazz EMUs from Alstom Marco Stellini

TRENITALIA has placed a €170m order with Alstom for 27 additional Jazz EMUs as part of the continuing renewal of its regional rolling stock fleet.

The order is an option from €440m contract for 70 Jazz EMUs, which was awarded in November 2012. Trenitalia exercised an initial option worth €170m for 25 additional trains for Lazio and Tuscany in April 2015.

The 160km/h trains are being delivered in four, five, and six-car formations, with the latter seating up to 292 passengers.

The latest option comprises 24 five-car and three four-car trains. Assembly will be carried out at Alstom’s Savigliano facility and deliveries are due to be completed by mid-2019.
