ČD wants to be able to quickly deliver modern, barrier-free rolling stock with Wi-Fi and audio-visual passenger information systems if it is successful in bids for regional contracts, which are due to be tendered in 2019. Many regional transport authorities are expected to specify such technical standards for rolling stock in their tenders.

ČD is planning an initial order of 60 EMUs, each with around 240 seats, which has an estimated value of around Koruna 9.7bn. The remaining 60 trains will each seat around 120 passengers, and this second tranche will be worth around Koruna 5.1bn.

The air-conditioned, low floor trains will be configured to enable multiple operation of up to three sets.
