GERMAN open-access operator FlixTrain has announced it will introduce new services and restore others that were suspended due to infrastructure work with the start of the 2024 timetable on December 10.

FlixTrain says it will connect around 60 cities with up to eight services a day on some routes, and will also guarantee a reserved seat with every ticket at no extra charge, with 25% more seats provided per train.

From the introduction of the new timetable, FlixTrain will begin serving Bremen, Bensheim, Elsterwerda, Mülheim (Ruhr) and Müllheim (Baden), as well as Schönefeld near Berlin Brandenburg Airport. FlixTrain will also resume operating services to Offenbach am Main, Hanau and Wolfsburg from spring 2024.

FlixTrain says its Hamburg - Berlin service will have a journey time of 2 hours. The Berlin - Frankfurt journey will take  4 hours, while the Berlin - Stuttgart journey time will be under 6 hours.

Tickets will be available from December 10, with prices starting at €4.99.
