Line 4 runs 43.4km underground from Jinchuan Road in the northwest, to the Kunming South high-speed railway station in the southeast, with a total of 29 stations.

The line offers end-to-end travel times of 1h 17min, with services running every six minutes during peak times, and every eight during off-peak periods.

The line has seven interchanges with metro lines 1, 2, 3 and 6, and also provides main line rail connections at Kunming North and South stations. An interchange with the currently under construction Line 5 is also planned.

The new 7.3km Line 6 Phase 2 extension runs west from East Coach station to the Dongfeng Square area, with four new stations at Juhua, Dongjiao Road, Chajie, and a terminus at Tangzixiang.

The new line brings Line 6’s total length to 25km, with eight stations and three interchanges with lines 2,3 and 4. Travel between Tangzixiang and Airport Central now takes around 29 minutes, with services operating at 10 minute intervals.

The new lines expand Kunming’s network to a total of 139.4km, with five lines. The opening of Line 4 marks the first completely new line in the city since the opening of Line 3 in September 2017. Lines 1 and 2 are currently being operated as a single line, but will be separated following the completion of the Line 1 Phase 3 and Line 2 Phase 2 extensions.
