The tenders are part of the track-doubling project on the Vestfold line between Drammen and Kobbervikdalen. The project will double capacity between Drammen and Tønsberg when completed in 2024, with up to four trains per hour per direction operating between Oslo and Tønsberg.

This batch of work includes rebuilding Drammen station and some road repairs, the construction of tracks and overhead electrification along the line, and the installation of electrical and telecommunications infrastructure between Drammen and Kobbervikdalen.

Bane Nor is planning to sign the contracts for the tenders in the first quarter of 2021, with work starting in the spring of that year.

“The development division has long worked with the goal of getting these three contracts to the market in the spring of 2020,” says Bane Nor CEO, Mr Gorm Frimannslund. “With the coronacrisis now affecting business, we see that this will at the same time be an important contribution to maintain activity in the market.”

Work currently underway in Drammen involves 10km of track doubling, including 7km through the tunnel running beneath Strømsåsen.
