TAIWAN Railways Administration has awarded a €231m contract to install electronic interlockings at 68 stations and covering 450km of Taiwan 1100km network to Siemens Mobility.

Siemens will replace relay interlockings with its Trackguard Westrace Mk II Electronic Interlocking (EI) system, which has already been proven in 1200 applications worldwide.

Siemens says this will facilitate a capacity increase on the network as well as improve the railway’s efficiency.

Siemens Mobility will also provide maintenance for 10 years using its Omnes predictive solution, while an option is available for EI systems to be installed at a further 10 stations.
