Various operational tests will be undertaken without passengers in preparation for the launch of commercial operation in the coming weeks, which will remove the need for passengers travelling between Jerusalem and Hertzliya to change trains.

The electrification has been carried out by Sociedad Española de Montajes Industriales (Semi), Spain, which was awarded a contract to deliver 25kV ac electrification across 420 route-km in December 2015.

IR will operate two trains per hour in each direction, with a Jerusalem Navon - Tel-Aviv University journey time of 47 minutes and a Jerusalem Navon - Hertzliya journey time of 55 minutes.
