The aim of the project is to increase capacity and improve punctuality by reducing conflicting movements around Liestal station.
The project includes the realignment of a 1.4km stretch of the narrow-gauge Waldenburg Railway, construction of two new passenger underpasses, the extension of through platforms and the construction of a new bay platform, which will enable the introduction of a 15-minute interval Basle - Liestal Regio S-Bahn service.
The project is due to be completed by the end of 2025.
