THE first freight service on Guinea’s Dasheng Railway operated from Shengtu mining area on May 26, ahead of the full opening of the line next month.

The 112.2km line, built by China Railway 21st Bureau Group, runs from the Port of Dabilón to the Shengtu bauxite mining area through the Bokai and Jindia districts in northwestern Guinea with five stations.

China Railways’ subsidiary completed the installation of the communication, signalling, and electrical systems along the line, while the group will also be responsible for the operation and management of the line.

CRRC Qishuyan is supplying and maintaining 14 3.28MW ac heavy-haul freight diesel locomotives and two DF8B diesel locomotives for the line. 

Construction began on March 29 2019, with the line due to open in June 2021.
