Under the €40m contract, 14 rail-mounted machines owned by IE will be used by Rhomberg Sersa to deliver track maintenance services to ensure safety, speed, journey time improvements and passenger comfort.

IE says Rhomberg Sersa expects to employ 56 people to deliver the contract. This includes Rhomberg Sersa professionals working alongside professionally qualified support staff such as logistics, planning, health, safety, environment and quality personnel, working under IE supervision.

Rhomberg Sersa staff will be located at IE depots in Kildare and Portlaoise and at Rhomberg Sersa’s offices in Kildare. In addition, the company expects to work with Solas and Kildare County Council to train a number of apprentice machine operators and technicians.

Rhomberg Sersa was formed with the merger between Sersa Group, Switzerland, and Rhomberg Rail Holding, Austria, in 2012.
