During the meeting on August 3, different modes of cooperation, financing and the required equipment were discussed. As Iran has already appointed a company to construct the line, it was agreed that Azerbaijan would appoint a company to form a joint Iranian-Azeri company before a summit in Sochi, Russia, in mid-September.

The route alignment has been specified and pre-construction works are currently underway.

Eslami also indicated that Iran is ready to relaunch the Nakhchivan - Jolfa - Mashhad service, a move that was welcomed by Mustafayev.
