Theurer together with Mr Franz Plasser founded Plasser & Theurer in 1953. After managing the family company for 60 years, he handed over the reins to his grandson, Mr Johannes Max-Theurer, in 2011.
During his life, Theurer registered more than 1000 patents. “Thanks to Theurer’s innovations, the arduous manual labour needed for construction and the maintenance of railway track could be replaced by mechanised methods,” the company says. “This in turn led to a considerable increase in productivity and hence more efficient and economical track maintenance.”
“My grandfather will always be a role model: as a pioneer, innovator and entrepreneur, but above all as a person,” says Max-Theurer.
