The document was signed in the presence of the prime minister of Russia, Mr Dmitry Medvedev, and the prime minister of Mongolia, Mr Ukhnagiyn Hurelsukha.

According to the agreement, RZD International, in partnership with a Russian design institute, will provide technical consulting services for the implementation of the 414km line. It will also develop recommendations on construction planning and the scheduling of services once the line is complete.

The new line will connect with UBTZ’s central line to transport coking coal from Tavan-Tolgoi, a large coal deposit in southern Mongolia.
