The elevated line will replace eight busy level crossings in the Argentine capital which the Ministry of Transport says will benefit up to 400,000 people per day comprising rail and bus passengers, motorists and pedestrians by eliminating delays of up to 22 minutes per hour.
The new section is part of a project to extend the Belgrano South line from its temporary station at Sáenz past the former Buenos Aires terminal station to the existing Roca Line Plaza Constitution terminal station.
Belgrano South carries around 65,000 passengers per day on two routes from Sáenz to González Catán and Marinos del Crucero General Belgrano, plus a shuttle service from Puente Alsina to Aldo Bonzi.
The Belgrano South project will be the third new elevated line to be completed in Buenos Aires this year following the opening of a new section of the San Martin Line in July and a new section of the Mitre Line in May.
