The diesel-electric ac traction locomotives are equipped with microprocessor control to maximise tractive effort and will enable BaltTransService to operate 6400-tonne freight trains.

A subsidiary of the Globaltrans group, BaltTransService is one of Russia’s largest privately-owned rail freight operators. The company operates a fleet of 60 mainline diesel locomotives and 13,100 wagons and carried 22 million tonnes of petroleum products in 2018.

The acquisition of the new TMH locomotives is part of a programme to modernise the BaltTransService fleet.
