The first units from the order, which was placed early last year, are nearing completion at Siemens' Allach plant in Munich.
The 6.4MW four-axle locomotives have a maximum speed of 200km/h and will be delivered in three batches, with the final units due to enter service in 2018.
The locomotives will be equipped to operate in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy,and BLS Cargo will use the fleet on trans-alpine freight trains.
