The 3kV dc six-axle locomotives will have a continuous output of 5MW and a maximum speed of 120km/h. They will be equipped with a 520kW diesel engine for last-mile operations on non-electrified track.
The first three units will be delivered in May 2016 and the remaining two by the end of July 2016. The locomotives are the first electric units to join the Freightliner PL fleet, which is being expanded to accommodate rising traffic levels.
The 3kV dc E6ACT version of the Dragon is already in service with Polish railfreight operators Lotos Kolej and STK.
