Green Cargo awarded Softronic a contract for two locomotives in July 2017, and in April 2018 ordered a further six units, which will be delivered in autumn 2019.

The six-axle 6MW locomotives will enable Green Cargo to reduce its dependence on double-heading for its heaviest trains.

The Transmontanas are equipped with asynchronous traction motors, regenerative braking, IGBT traction converters, and LED headlights. Green Cargo says the locomotives have been adapted to enable reliable operation in Nordic winters.
