The government has set a target of building 3258km of new railways by 2019 and completed 250km last year with 700km targeted for 2016. In addition to the 500 locomotives required, the Transport Minister says the country needs another 5000 wagons to meet its aspirations.
Indonesia seeks 400 new locomotives
INDONESIAN Transport Minister Mr Ignasius Jonan says the country will purchase up to 400 locomotives from General Electric or Electro-Motive Diesel as part of its rail expansion plans.
