The order follows the signing of a framework agreement between the two companies in May for up to 100 EuroDual electro-diesel locomotives, with an initial firm order for 10 units.

ELP was launched at InnoTrans 2018 as a new European locomotive leasing company focussing on hybrid traction. It is Stadler’s first customer for the 9MW Co-Co locomotives.

The locomotives are designed for operation in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy can be equipped for 15kV + 25kV ac and 1.5kV + 3kV dc networks. They can also be fitted with one or two additional 900kW diesel engines for operation on non-electrified lines.
