The locomotives are to be completely rebuilt with only the underframes and bogies being retained from the original units. Each locomotive will be fitted with two 16V series 4000 R43 MTU engines, which have a combined output of 4.4MW.

The first two engines will be shipped to CZ Loco before the end of the year for installation in a prototype locomotive, which will then be commissioned and tested. Subsequent engines and components will be sent to the Czech Republic during 2015 and 2016 for installation in the locomotives. Completed units will then be commissioned by LDZ.
