The 36-tonne locomotives will be produced with a 328kW CAT C13 engine, ac/dc power transfer and a maximum speed of 60km/h.

Modifications for operation on the Serbian network include the instillation of a Serbian speedometer and the Indusi automatic train control system.

ŽS will become the fourth European operator of EffiShunter 300 locomotives.

“Searching for new opportunities on foreign markets is one of the main priorities of CZ Loko,” says Mr Lubomír Dlábik, CZ Loko sales team leader, who is responsible for business development in Southeastern and Eastern Europe. “The development of our Balkan activities is one of the ways to meet this goal. We see Serbia as an important transit country, which has recently invested heavily in the renewal of transport infrastructure.”

The order follows the delivery of the last of 12 EffiShunter 300 locomotives to Czech Railways (ČD) at the end of February.
