The first locomotives will be delivered by the first quarter of 2021, and will be employed on Retrack’s main freight routes. The locomotives will support an extension of freight train lengths to 740m. In addition, the new locomotives will provide last-mile diesel operation on unelectrified lines.

The locomotives have an output of 6MW under electric traction and 2.8MW in diesel mode and can haul up to 30% more tonnage than locomotives currently in use by Retrack, while offering reduced CO2 emissions.
