ÖBB Technical Services will install the equipment on 382 class
1016/1116/1216 Taurus locomotives and 67 Railjet driving trailers, with
the first vehicles being treated later this year. The project will be
completed in 2014. The installation of Atlas will allow these fleets to
operate with European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2.

Earlier
this month ÖBB awarded Thales a contract to supply, integrate and
deploy ETCS Level 2 on new sections of the Vienna - St Pölten main
line, and on the 148km Brenner line between Kufstein and Brennero.

Siemens
has already equipped 13 class 1116s to operate with ETCS Level 1, which
was introduced on the Austrian section of the Vienna-Budapest line in
2007.
