The 102m-long four-car Dosto trains will be manufactured at Stadler's
Bussnang site and deliveries will begin in autumn 2012. The first
trains will enter service on Line S1 (Fribourg - Bern - Münsingen -
Thun) in 2013 and Lines S3 (Biel - Bern - Belp) and S6 (Schwarzenburg -
Bern) in 2014.

Each train will seat 274 in second and 62 in first class and will
accommodate up to 110 standing passengers. This will allow the number
of rush hour seats on Bern S-Bahn services to be increased by 30% from
2014.
The Bern S-Bahn has witnessed rapid growth in recent years, with
ridership increasing 43.5% over the last five years. Passenger numbers
are expected to rise a further 60% by 2025.
