A decision on the future of the project will be made next month, when
the council will have to give full details of the cost of building the
line to St Andrew Square, and the potential cost of cancellation.

A report published last week by Edinburgh City Council revealed £440m
of the £545m budget has already been spent. The cost of building the
section from the Airport to Haymarket is now expected to exceed £600m,
with a further £100m required to complete the section through the city
centre to St Andrew Square.

Transport Initiatives Edinburgh has previously said stopping the line
short of the city centre would have a severe detrimental impact on
revenues.
