The investment in Kirk Yard at Gary, Indiana, will
increase capacity from 1500 to 2500 wagons per day. Additional
classification tracks together with new receiving and dispatching
tracks will allow the yard to handle longer trains and improve links
with connecting railways.

As part of the project,
CN will move locomotive maintenance from Homewood, Illinois, to a new
depot at Kirk Yard, which will service locomotives operating across the
railway's US network.

CN acquired Gary Yard as part of its acquisition of the Elgin, Joilet & Eastern Railway in 2009.
