The 185km line will run east from a junction with the Oran - Algiers
main line at Relizane to Tiaret and Tissemsilt, and will be largely
single track with a maximum operating speed of 160km/h. Due to the
difficult terrain on the 121km Relizane - Tiaret section, five major
tunnels will be required and FCC says these will be excavated using the
New Austrian Tunnelling Method. The Euros 935.5 million project will be
completed at the end of 2014.

A further phase is planned which will continue the line east to join the Bourj Bou Arreridj - Ain Touta line at M'Sila.
