The deal covers the operation of Östergötatrafiken regional services,
which are centred on Linköping and Norrköping. The concession begins in
December 2010 and covers the operation of 3.3 million train-km per
year, rising to 3.8 million train-km by 2020. It also includes an
option for a four year extension.
Östergötatrafiken ordered a fleet of five class X61 Coradia Nordic
trains from Alstom last year (pictured) which will be delivered next
year, allowing the introduction of a 20-minute interval service between
Norrköping and Mjölby. The Euros 27 million contract includes an option for an additional 10 trains.
