The contract, which is worth around SKr 800 million ($US 116 million),
means DSB will operate 20 million train-km per year in Sweden covering
2000 route-km, more than its entire Danish regional business.
According
to Jönköping Lanstrafik, five companies competed for the contract, with
German Rail subsidiary DB Regio Sweden submitting the second-best bid.
Last month DB Regio Sweden clinched a 10-year deal to operate service
in nearby Östergötland from next December.
