The contract covers the refurbishment of all 101 vehicles supplied for
the 65km three-line network by ABB between 1988 and 1995. The
modernisation includes full external and internal renovation together
with new passenger information and CCTV systems, installation of a
low-floor section in the 32 centre cars to allow improved access for
people with disabilities, and a series of reliability modifications.
Euromaint Rail says the new interior will reflect the design used on
SL's fleet of Alstom X60 emus, which are used on mainline services in
the city.

Refurbishment work will begin at the start of next year and the project will be completed in late 2014.
